Assandra and Bandit, her capybara friend, lives in the ruins of a city. They met Alex, an alien. Assandra, Bandit and Alex now work together to survive.

The sun rose above the old mall, quickly warming up the cracked pavement. Assandra poked her head out of the makeshift tent and looked around. Bandit was nowhere to be seen.

“Bandit?” she called out, but there was no answer.

Assandra left the tent and started exploring the ruins of the mall. She had been living there with Bandit for the past few months, ever since they had both been kicked out of their old home. It wasn’t the best place to live, but it was better than the alternative.

Assandra was just about to give up on finding Bandit when she heard a strange noise coming from one of the stores. She cautiously approached and peered inside.

There was a creature in the store, a strange looking animal that Assandra had never seen before. It was small, with a furry body and a long tail. It was standing on two legs and was holding a weapon in its hands.

The creature saw Assandra looking at it and it raised the weapon. Assandra was terrified and quickly ran away. She didn’t know what the creature was, but she knew it was dangerous.

She ran back to the tent and gathered her things. She was about to leave when she heard the creature coming after her. She ran into the store and hid behind a shelf.

The creature entered the store and looked around. It didn’t see Assandra, so it started walking away. Assandra held her breath and waited until the creature was gone before she emerged from her hiding place.

She was about to leave the store when she heard the creature coming back. She quickly ran back into the hiding place.

The creature entered the store again and this time it saw Assandra. It started to walk towards her, but then it stopped and raised the weapon.

Assandra was petrified. She didn’t know what to do.

Suddenly, the creature was hit by a blast of energy. It collapsed to the ground, dead.

Assandra looked up and saw a man standing in the doorway of the store. He was wearing a strange suit and had a weapon in his hand.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

Assandra nodded.

“Come with me,” the man said. “I’ll take you to safety.”

Background & Comments

This story is a continuation of the Assandra & Capybara series .

I continue to be impressed with the grammar of GPT-3, however the content and themes that it produces are very much alike (meeting a creature/alien).

Also, Assandra seems to be in need of saving by a man in most of the text, which is kind of curious. This happened both in part 2 and now here, but with the limited sample size, I am not going to claim a clear gender bias here. However, it would be interesting to see if a different text could make her stronger and more independent (i.e. less in need of saving and less scared).
